The Committee of Trustees

The Village Hall is run by a group of volunteer Trustees, who meet bi-monthly to oversee facilities,  finances and general management. They also arrange various fund-raising events to provide an income to fund the maintenance and upkeep of the hall.

Paul Temple - Chair

I  have lived in Bourne Field for 36 years and my 3 children all attended the local school.

I co-founded and owned 3 service businesses, all now based in Ringwood, from which I retired 10 years ago. The businesses still operate successfully and one has a Royal Warrant.

I have been involved with Basingstoke Gymnastic Club for 35 years, firstly as a parent but then as a coach, Chief Coach, Director & Chairman & am still an active Trustee. BGC is the biggest sports club in Basingstoke and has over 2000 members. In addition I am a member of Basingstoke Deane Rotary Club and have just finished a year as Club President.

I have many other interests, all of which keep me very busy, but am very happy to be part of the Village Hall Committee and make a small contribution to the local community.

Brian Mitchison - Treasurer

I spent 20 years in the Royal Air Force as an Engineering Officer, rising to the rank of Squadron Leader before leaving to work for a large American defence contractor.  As Programmes Director, I managed large programmes to deliver radar and communications systems to the Ministry of Defence and other armed services across Europe.

I now run my own business as a Lettings and Estate Agent in Reading, where I employ a small team to help people sell or let their properties, and provide a Guaranteed Rent service to provide peace of mind to landlords. Although this is quite a change from my previous employment, I enjoy the freedom of being my own boss and making a difference to people's lives.

I have two grown-up children who have "fled the nest" and now live with my wife and young son in Sherborne St John, and try to help in the community through my role as Treasurer of the Village Hall Management Committee.

Shawna Campbell - Bookings Secretary

Originally from Canada, I have lived in the UK for the last 26 years and along with my husband, we have been residents  of Sherborne St John for 7 years. We have been married for 47 years this past July and when not busy taking bookings for the hall, I am busy knitting for the Premi ICU department at our local hospital also baking and reading.

As an active grandmother of 11 grandchildren who keep me busy with the occasional babysitting duties, I can be found at the hall serving teas or coffees or just showing the hall.

I enjoy the village life of Sherborne St John and have met some wonderful people who have become great friends.

Debra Morgan - Trustee and Facilities Manager

“I have lived in the village for over 21 years and assisted with many events over this time.  I have also been a member of the Village Hall Committee for 6 years.  Previously I was a Facilities Manager at the AA for over 20 years and now retired.

In addition to being a Village Hall Trustee, I am responsible for ensuring the hall is maintained to a high standard for our customers.”
